Halatali
Required level: 20Unlocked by: Sidequest "Hallo Halatali" in Vesper Bay, Western Thanalan
If you're still wearing level 15 gear, the game's first optional dungeon is a good excuse for upgrading gear-if you're especially a tank, reinforced armor will make the healer's job easier, especially when interacting with larger groups. If you have level 15 dungeon gear from the first three dungeons, you may be fine, because in some cases, the attributes of that gear can be compared to level 20 gear.
In most cases, this dungeon fragment between the bosses will not cause you much difficulty, but just like in Copperbell Mines, beware of bombs. If you pull the chain winch and a bomb appears, don't even disturb it-it will blow up almost immediately, so focus on getting rid of the explosion radius.
Firemane
The first boss is simple. Tanks should keep their attention when healers replenish their health from all the fire spells they are about to suffer. Soon after, the flames in the center of the arena will suddenly burn, and a group of small firefly-like natural enemies will begin to walk out of the gate on the side of the arena-distribute them as soon as possible because they will trigger an attack on the entire party. It's not much in itself, but if you don't follow closely, the damage may worsen.
The Damantuses have very low HP, so even magicians or white mages using Aero alone can easily see them, but they will have stronger Noxius at the end of each parade. If the party catches fire in medium fire, it will cause considerable damage to the party, so be sure to shoot it down even if you miss the Damantus Brigade.
When you defeat Firemane, the bonfire will become an ethereal stream; jump in and enter the next zone.
Thunderclap Guivre
In this battle, the tank should pull the leader to the water, and everyone else should stand on the rocky hillside leading to the swimming pool. Deal with Boss as usual and make sure to avoid cone Levinshower attacks.
Throughout the battle, Guuvre will become invincible and will dive into the pool, which will become fully charged-so make sure you don't stand in it! When Guivre taunts you from a distance, it summons three lightning elves, and almost inevitably follows the healer. Kill them as quickly as possible, while avoiding the occasional round Electrify attack that Guivre flew in.
After sending the Lightning Elves, Guivre will return for another spanking. From here, the cycle repeats until you or your boss die. Grab your loot and hop into the Aetherial Flow to continue to the final area.
Tangata
The battle with Tangata is almost the same as the Firemane battle, with some exceptions-mainly Damantus and Noxius enemies come from four directions instead of two, and they are more intense. When Tangata summons a circle of fire around him, he will also become invincible, and will also call Fire Sprites to support him often.
Towards the end of the battle, the cycle will continue, but Tangata cannot help himself. A balance between the destructive tangram and ensuring control of the population of Damantus, Noxius, and Fire Sprite, and before long you'll be victorious.
